City of Detroit to Pay Strip Club Millions to Settle Suit

Popular strip club Zoo Bar will be receiving a fat lump sum from the city of Detroit aka the taxpayers. City lawmakers have proposed a multi million-dollar settlement to the downtown strip club. I know what all of you are thinking. Why is a cash strapped city like Detroit shelving out so much money? The City Council has made it their business to crackdown on topless bars in Detroit. A certain council member Sam Riddle was caught with his hands in the cookie jar.
Riddle had the deciding vote to grant the Zoo Bar a license transfer. Mr. Riddle could not help himself and demanded $25,000 from the club in order to sway his vote in their favor. Zoo Bar refused and Riddle voted against the license transfer in a 5-4 vote. Little did Mr. Riddle know the bar owners planned to sell the club to a distinguished group of investors who wanted to open a Larry Flynt like Hustler’s Club. The owners of Zoo Bar presented their suit to the court. The City Council members quickly came to their wits after it would be known they illegally denied the license transfer. As a result of Mr. Riddle’s taste for some extra green will cost the city of Detroit a whopping $2.95 million. Check back here for more details on this topic.
