Exotic Dancers Murderer Appeal Denied

Do remember the beautiful Catherine Woods? In 2005 a small time girl from Ohio moved to New York with big city dreams. Woods had a passion for acting and had big aspiration to be on Broadway someday. Sadly the beautiful Catherine Woods had her life taken from her in 2005. Her ex-boyfriend, David Haughn found Catherine dead in their apartment. Her throat was slashed and lying face down in a pool of blood. While Woods was staying in New York she was teaching dance classes. It was difficult to make ends meet so she began dancing at a Chelsea gentlemen’s club called Privilege for a short period.
When her death occurred she was working at Flash Dancers gentlemen’s club and was scheduled to work the night of her murder. Paul Cortez who was the current boyfriend at the time was easily convicted of the gruesome murder in 2007. Cortez was sentenced to 25-years to life in prison. The New York Post reports, after investigators found his handprint in the victim’s blood on her bedroom wall, right over her body. Cortez had argued, grotesquely, that the blood was menstrual blood and was there from a previous encounter.
In rejecting his appeal, the appellate panel wrote that there was “overwhelming evidence of guilt,” and that Cortez’s complaints about his lawyers, prosecutor Peter Casolaro and Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Carol Berkman were unfounded
