Ex-Hoop Star Rafer Alston Caught in Strip Club Melee

If your friends asked, you heard it here first. Ex-playground legend Rafer Alston aka Skip To My Lou, got his himself in a bit of hot water. The former New Jersey Net was enjoying the night at Gentlemen’s Club Perfections (Queens, New York) when all hell broke loose. From eyewitnesses point of view, Alston attacked fellow club patron Erick Franceschini during the July 2010 melee. According to court papers Alston not only was in the middle of the altercation but also bashed Franceschini over the head with a beer bottle during the brawl. I understand the notion of every man for themselves but beer bottles over fist? Was Franceschini that miuch bigger than the 6’3 NBA guard? Hmmmm.
Now fast forward to a year later. Erick Franceschini has decided to take legal action against the hoop star and is going for the slam-dunk. The New York Post got the inside scoop from Franceschini’s lawyer. Alston smashed Franceschini with the bottle during a dispute that began in the Woodside, Queens, club and spilled out on the street, said Franceschini’s lawyer, John Rapawy. Alston was not involved in the fight in the bar, Rapawy said, but the lawyer claimed the hoopster attacked Franceschini in the street. Alston — known in his playing days as “Skip to My Lou” because he was fast and light on his feet — “unjustifiably assaulted and [beat]” Franceschini, Rapawy told The Post yesterday. “My client had 12 staples in his head. He suffered a concussion,” the lawyer said. Rapawy and his client have also filed a police report which details the assault complaint.
As of now Franceschini is seeking unspecified damages. Alston criminal history does not help his case in the courtroom. Alston was also cited for slashing a man in the neck in a Manhattan nightclub in 2007. I guess Rafer Aston supporters can only hope that he hasn’t spent too much of his game checks.
