Strippers-on-a-Truck Promotion on Las Vegas Strip Put to an End

Leave it to the City of Sin to conjure up an innovative way to promote the stripping industry.  Larry Beard, marketing director for Déjà vu Showgirls, has been one of the key players in the new advertising tactics that involved loading live strippers on the back of a truck with clear plastic sides to work the poles while riding down the strip in order to lure more customers into their club.  Although the “stripper truck” was only in motion from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m., the dancers on wheels were met with much opposition, so much that Beard agreed last week to end the ride despite increases in business. “We’re going to respect the opinion of the folks that are against it,” Beard told The Associated Press. “We’re going to be good citizens and take it off the street.”  He also followed up by stating that “The girls are wearing more than the girls at the swimming pool wear, even though they’re not stripping and taking their clothes off I think people are offended because of the idea that they do.”  Unfortunately the ride was short lived, with the truck only hitting the streets for 13 nights, leaving many of us wishing we had the chance to get caught in a traffic jam next to those sexy ladies…
