Mr. Etiquette: If You’re Married, Flaunt It

Men, both new and old, often make the mistake of removing their wedding band when entering a strip club. That is the biggest mistake you could possibly make.

Entertainers are building a relationship (or pitching a sale) when you bargain for VIP time. When you’ve come to spend money, to some degree a connection is made. In that connection, the removal of the wedding band is a form of deception. Remember that these women are entertainers and do not care if you have a significant other. They aren’t trying to find Mr. Right.

If the band falls out of your pocket, or you happen to be in an establishment where enough money takes you a long way, you can seem as if you are trying to give a false impression. No one likes false impressions. If you keep the band on, you’re making a clear statement when you walk in the door. You’re saying, “I’m happily married and looking for entertainment, nothing that could go beyond my stay here.”

Entertainers will recognize that and appreciate it and will often times show you more love than that “eligible bachelor” in a world where fantasy is everything. The entertainer can now imagine she is turning you on better than your wife, maybe your wife attends with you and she’s that little “fling” you two enjoy and she’s the third fantasy girl, or she can use it as a conversation piece when performing.

Upfront and direct is the only approach that will keep you on your feet in this world.
